Case study · Non-profit (Rotary & Rotaract)

Rotaract Moscow-East

A bilingual club site built from the ground up — structure, copy, design, animation, integrations, and SEO, solo, start to finish. Built to represent the club to Rotary International, bring in new members among young professionals, and give partner clubs abroad a proper first impression.

Solo, full-cycle Bilingual (RU/EN) District 2223, Rotary International HTML/CSS/JS, Web3Forms, JSON-LD

A club with no modern presence online — or none at all — needed a site that could do several jobs at once.

  • Represent the club to the international Rotary community
  • Attract new members among young professionals
  • Tell the club's story and values in a structured, convincing way
  • Serve as a credible first impression when forming partnerships with clubs abroad
  • Collect enquiries through a working contact form

What changed for someone finding the club online.

Before
  • No site, or an outdated, static page with no structure
  • One language only, no international version
  • No contact form
  • Weak search visibility
  • Static interface, no animation
  • No dedicated page for the club's history
After
  • A full modern site, built from scratch
  • Bilingual RU/EN site for an international audience
  • A working contact form (Web3Forms)
  • SEO in place: JSON-LD, sitemap, robots.txt, hreflang
  • Smooth animation, modern UX
  • A dedicated, fully translated history page

Seven areas of work, from research to deployment.

Structure & pages

  • Designed and wrote the site's multi-page structure from scratch: homepage, club history page, and other sections
  • Mapped the visitor's path — from first impression of the club through to the contact form
  • Every piece of copy written from scratch, no templates — matched to this specific club's voice and values

Bilingual (i18n)

  • Built a full RU/EN language-switching system
  • 230+ translated elements on the homepage, around 160 on the history page
  • Opens the site to an international audience — partner clubs in Ireland, Germany/Austria, Turkey, China, and Hong Kong

Animation & visual design

  • Smooth interface animation — blocks revealing on scroll, interactive transitions between sections
  • Animation used functionally: it directs attention and makes the interface feel more current, which builds trust in the organization behind it

Backend & functionality

  • Connected and configured a contact form through Web3Forms
  • Visitors can message the club directly, with no need to open a mail client
  • Created a real intake channel for enquiries from prospective members and partner clubs

SEO & optimization

  • Structured JSON-LD data (Organization, WebSite, WebPage, FAQPage, Article, BreadcrumbList) for correct display in search results
  • Created sitemap.xml and robots.txt
  • Added meta tags and hreflang tags so each language version shows correctly in search
  • Optimized load performance — assets embedded efficiently (single-file HTML with base64) — the site opens quickly even on a slow connection

Research & content preparation

  • Studied open materials and official Rotary International / Rotaract sources to accurately describe the organization's structure, terminology, and history
  • Worked through material supplied by the club — internal documents, club history, bylaws — and adapted it into readable site copy
  • Edited every piece of text through multiple passes for a natural, human voice — varied sentence rhythm, no templated AI patterns

Responsiveness

  • Fully adapted for mobile, tablet, and desktop
  • Checked rendering across different screens and resolutions

What it did, measured — real Search Console data, July 25 – August 15.

0 membership applications, first 2 weeks live
0 search impressions, first 3 weeks
0 translated elements on the homepage alone

A young site, early in its search ramp-up — search visibility compounds over time, and these numbers cover the first three weeks only.
